ROLES @ NTM/CIIL
- I am a Chief Resource Person in the Mission from April 2016.
- I joined as a Core Consultant during its inception in July 2008 and after an year became a Senior Consultant.
- I joined CIIL in July 2002 and was a Junior Project Fellow in the Andaman Commissioned Project (Cultural Documentation of the Nicobarese Chapter) till I was shifted to NTM.
- Am the Team Lead of the Publication Team of National Translation Mission. Responsibilities for the team involves getting Intellectual Property Rights for NTM translations from national and international source publishers like Tata McGraw Hill, Penguin India, Pearson Education, Oxford University Press, Wiley India etc. So far, the team has procured licenses for about 250 translations.
- Am also the Team Lead of the Certification & Training Team in National Translation Mission and the responsibility at present is to develop the structure for a certification & training program under NTM. The first model of testing has been evolved and has been trialled thorough a pilot test.
- Was a member of the Pilot Committee of the Certification of Translators Programme, NTM.
- Am one of the Assistant Editors of the Longman-NTM-CIIL English English Tamil Dictionary published by Pearson Education in collaboration with NTM.
- Was a group leader for coordinating works related to Knowledge Text Database (KTD), NTM-website and Intellectual Property Rights divisions till December 2010. Prepared the conceptual design and a flash presentation for the KTD-Indian Universities Database. The database, which was developed by programmers in the team, has over 2,75,000 thousand titles of knowledge texts in it at present. The NTM website was first hosted in 22 languages during the tenure.
- Have prepared, as part of a team, lists of the titles in 21 disciplines, out of which 105 titles in 21 disciplines have been approved for translation and publication under NTM.
- Have prepared, as part of a team, a classified list of over 250 translators in Tamil in a total of 25 disciplines.
- Have prepared, along with the team, NTM presentations for UNESCO conference and a meeting with Hon’ble Human Resource Development Minister.
- Have coordinated the NTM survey to capture the knowledge text scenario in 15 regional languages along with a team.
- Have organized, as part of a team, 6 NTM-Project Advisory Committee meetings 6 meetings of various NTM Subcommittees. Have prepared the agendum, reports and minutes of these meetings along with the team.
- Have identified a broad list of names of experts for constituting the Editorial Support Group for Tamil.
- Have been handling the practical sessions in Orientation Programmes for Translators (Tamil) along with a team.
- Have been translating and editing different documents required for NTM in Tamil, as part of the Tamil language team.
- Have been regularly preparing answers for the Parliament questions on NTM and replies on other administrative matters to the Ministry.
- Was on the discussion panel of the session on ‘Managing the Translation Market’ in the international conference ‘Publishing Next’ (2011 Edition) at Goa, representing National Translation Mission, Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi.
